Complementing WDS’s existing stainless steel and mild steel versions, these aluminium collars are perfect for OEM or end-user customisation. Whether clamping and positioning components, securing tools and machinery, or serving as spacers, these collars offer versatile applications. Aluminium was chosen due to customer demand, as it provides a significantly lighter alternative to steel and stainless steel. This feature is particularly beneficial for machines with rotating shafts or those requiring frequent movement, where multiple collars would add excessive weight. Additionally, the aluminium collars are easier to machine, allowing for precise customisation to fit specific shaft designs or dimensions, whether for retrofitting or new machine builds. Their anti-corrosion properties, comparable to stainless steel, ensure increased durability. The new aluminium collars are available in semi or double-split designs, catering to different adjustment needs. The semi-split collars are ideal for less frequent adjustments, while the double-split collar enables easy removal during installation. This design is especially advantageous when sliding the collar along the shaft is impractical or when the shaft is in a hard-to-reach position. Secure fastening options include screws with allen keys or clamping levers for tool-free tightening and release. The clamping lever handles come in light grey, orange, and black colours. For enhanced shaft clamping security, a keyway version is available, specifically designed for high torque applications to prevent collar spinning or slipping. Ranging from 12-50mm shaft diameters, these collars are meticulously machined in-house at WDS's Leeds production facility, ensuring exceptional positional accuracy. Machine builders and end users can rely on their high tolerances to optimise performance. WDS Components' new range of lightweight and easily machinable aluminium shaft collars meets customer demand for lighter alternatives, offering versatility, customisation, and durability in various applications.
